One of my sweet followers here at The Crafty Decorator sent me this idea on how to make a hot glue gun and glue stick holder from Dollar Tree napkin holders. I just had to share her idea because I just love it. My glue gun is no long laying on my craft table and my glue sticks are close at hand. I did change from using the dollar tree rubber saddle at dollar tree to one I found at Home Goods. I did not like how shallow the dollar tree one was.
Materials You Will Need:
- 2 Dollar Tree Wire Napkin Holders
- Silicone Rubber Sink Saddle (I used one by the brand Core)
- 6 – 4” Zip Ties
- Scissors
Zip Tie The Napkin Holders Together
The first thing you are going to do is zip tie the two napkin holders together. Place the two wire napkin holders side by side. Take a 4” zip tie wrap it around the top middle of the two napkin holders and zip tie together. Take a second zip tie and wrap it around the two arches in the middle of the two napkin holders below where you just zip tied and zip tie them together. Trim off excess from the zip ties.
Zip Tie The Saddle
Place one saddle pocket into each of the napkin holders. Take a 4” zip tie and feed each end through a hole on either side of the second bar on the bottom of the napkin holder. Zip tie the saddle to the bottom of the napkin holder. Repeat this step to the other saddle pocket. After using my glue gun holder for a while I went back and added two more zip ties to the other two second bars in the back. I suggest you use four zip ties on the bottom so the saddle doesn’t move around on you.
I hope you love using this glue gun holder as much as I do.
I’m definitely going to make this
Yay I am so glad
Do you use it when the glue gun is on? Does it burn a hole in the saddle holder…or do you just use it to store when not in use?
I use it while the glue gun is one. It has never burned a hole, I believe the silicone is heat resistant.
I love this idea. When I can get out again I will get the supplies to make this.
It is really simple to make.
I hope you keep the glue gun holder directions up for awhile. I need to find the stuff to use and look back for directions when I get it. I like this craft a lot.
I did a blog for it so it will always be there
Awesome Sherry! Thank you for sharing.I will be making one for sure!
I am so glad
I am picking up my supplies to make this at this moment 😆
Thank you for sharing this !
Where do I get the sink saddle?
Does the glue drip through the holes?
Has the saddle ever melted from the heat of the gun?
Hoping both answers are a no, I really like this idea. Just don’t want to buy everything till I know for sure.
The answer to both questions is a no I have never had a problem.
I made this!!! Thanks for sharing the idea. It works great!
I finally found a sink saddle that I like and just finished making this. I have been wanting to make one of these for a long time. It was so easy and it will be so nice to have my glue gun and sticks in one place.
Yay I am so glad you found one! I love mine.
Thank you for the tutorial. Just made mine and I’m anxious to try it out!
