I am always searching the internet looking for holiday decorations. I seen a Target ad for a adorable little bunny wreath on sale for $14.99 and I thought to myself I can most definitely make that myself. I was going to make the pom pom’s to make the little bunnies but I was shopping in Dollar Tree on day and I was looking at the Easter merchandise and I cam across the yarn bunny kits, you get two bunnies in one kit. I bought a few packages of the yarn bunny kits, 1 pack of the pom pom bunny kits, and a 2 pack of the 8” wire wreaths. When I got home I got busy making the bunnies and came up with this adorable little bunny wreath it looks just like the one I seen in the target ad.
Here is a list of what you will need:
- 4 packages of the yarn bunny kits from Dollar Tree
- 1 package of pom pom bunny kits
- 1 – 8” wire wreath form (Dollar Tree)
- 1 roll of burlap ribbon (Dollar Tree)
- Scissors
- Piece of ribbon of choice for hanging
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Wire Cutters
Preparing the Wreath Form
The first thing you will need to do is remove the outer ring of the wire wreath form. Using your wire cutters cut the three middle wires at the outside of the middle wire ring. Remove the other ring. Add hot glue to one outer part of the wire frame. Glue down the end of your burlap ribbon. Wrap the burlap ribbon around the frame covering the whole frame. Cut off excess and hot glue the end of the ribbon to the frame.
Making the Bunnies
You are going to need to make seven bunnies for the wreath. Start by hot gluing the bunny head and body together for all seven bunnies. Make the bunny ears by hot gluing the inner pink part of the ears to the outer white part. Take two bunny ears and place in the yarn at the top of the bunny head. Once you have them where you want them remove one bunny ear add a drop of hot glue to each side at the bottom of the ear place back into the bunny head and pinch the yarn on both side of the ear. Repeat this step to the second ear. Add a small drop of hot glue to the back bottom of the ears gluing them back on the head. Repeat these steps to the other six bunnies. Open four packs of the pom pom bunnies. You will be using the 2 large and 2 medium pom pom’s from each pack. Take one of the medium pom poms and hot glue to the back of the bunny, this will be his tail. Repeat this step to the other six bunnies.
Assemble the Wreath
To assemble the wreath start by placing one bunny onto the wreath form, his head facing towards the middle of the wreath. Next place a large pom pom then another bunny. Continue adding the bunnies and large pom pom’s around the wreath alternating them as you go around. You should have placed seven bunnies and seven large pom pom’s onto the wreath form. Lift up one bunny add hot glue onto the wreath form then glue down the bunny. Next lift up one pom pom add hot glue to the wreath form then glue down to the pom pom. Continue gluing the bunnies and pom pom’s to the wreath form until all 14 pieces are attached to the wreath. Add a piece of ribbon through the wreath between two bunnies tie the ends of the ribbon together this will be the hanger for your wreath.
I hope you enjoyed making this adorable bunny wreath. I decided to make two and hang them on my kitchen cabinets.
