Can you believe this adorable angel is made from the children’s plastic tea set from Dollar Tree. I just love how she turned out and she is so simple to make. You do not have to use her as a tree topper she will stand on a shelf or cabinet just fine. I made a cream colored one for my granddaughters tree in her bedroom and she loves her. Yes my family keeps trees up all year long lol.
Materials You Will Need:
- Children’s Plastic Tea Set (Dollar Tree)
- 1 – 1 ¼” Dowel Cap
- Mod Podge
- Rust-Oleum Spray Matt Sealer
- Chalk Paint In Choice of Color
- Metallic Paint Marker Your Choice Of Color
- Lace Ribbon
- String of Pearls
- Set Of Dollar Angel Wings
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Painting The Angel Pieces
Start by painting the teapot, tea cup and saucer with chalk paint. After they have dried give them a coat of mod podge, this will help the second coat of paint adhere better. Once the mod podge has dried apply a second coat of paint. After the second coat is dry spray on a coat of the sealer. The final step is to paint the details of the teapot with a metallic marker. Don’t forget to paint the little knob on the lid.
Adding The Lace And Assembling The Angel
I did a double layer of lace on my angel you can do a single layer if you would like. To do a double layer place your tea cup with the bottom facing up then wrap your lace around the bottom of the cup part not the little stand part at the bottom of the cup. Cut your lace to size. Using a hot glue gun add hot glue around the bottom of the cup and glue on the lace.
Next add hot glue around the top (which is really the bottom of the tea cup) of the tea cup and glue on the saucer.
Next add hot glue around the top of the teapot and glue upside down to the top of the saucer.
Now wrap your ribbon around the part of the teapot that is glued to the saucer and cut to size. Add hot glue on the saucer at the base of the tea pot and glue on the lace ribbon.
Adding The Head
Add hot glue to the bottom of the teapot, which is at the top of our angel. Glue on the 1 ¼” dowel cap
Adding The Pearls And Hat
Wrap you string of pearls around the base of the teapot lid, trim to size. Add hot glue around the base of the lid and glue on the pearls.
Add hot glue around the bottom rim of the lid and glue onto the top of the head.
Attaching The Wings
I forgot to take photo’s of this step but it is self explanatory. Hold the wings on the back of the angle to check the placement. Add hot glue to the back of the teapot and glue on wings.
I hope you enjoy making this adorable angel tree topper for your small tree. You can also use her just as a shelf sitter. She would look beautiful just sitting on a shelf or cabinet. You can also not add the wings and just leave her as a teapot girl. Save your other tea cups and saucers, you may also want to grab yourself another tea set we will be making adorable ornaments with them in the near future here at The Crafty Decorator.
