If you have been following The Crafty Decorator you know I do not make to many things using paper or cardboard but I couldn’t resist making these flowers out of the petal baking cups. While was walking down the baking isle at Hobby Lobby I happen to see these petal baking cups and they were 30% off I knew I had to get them and make them into a flower. They are very easy to make and turn out so pretty. If you are like me and keep a tree up all year long you are going to love these flowers for spring and summer on your tree. Oh I forgot to mention the center is a ponytail holder from Dollar Tree.
Supplies You Will Need:
- Petal Baking Cups (Hobby Lobby)
- 2” Wood Circles
- Ponytail Holders (Dollar Tree)
- Fishing Line
- Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
- Scissors
Cutting the Petal Baking Cups
Take one petal baking cup and flatten out. Start by cutting between each petal down to the beginning of the green. When cutting between the last two petals cut down all the way to the green in the center of the cup. Cut out the bottom of the baking cup. Repeat these steps to a second petal cup.
Creating the Flowers
Start by adding a small line of hot glue at the edge of the wood circle. Start gluing down the petals. Continue adding glue and gluing down the petals all the way around until all petals are attached to the wood. After you have the first set of petals attached add a small line of got glue on the wood circle at the edge of the green on the petals you just added. Glue the first petal between two petals of the set you just attached. Keep adding glue and gluing down the petals between the exciting petals, you may have to gather some of the petals to keep them in-between two petals.
