I have been seeing everyone making beautiful spring wreaths for their door using an umbrella so I thought I would give it a try. I have to say it is so simple and I am just loving how it turned out. All the umbrella wreaths I have seen were made from a solid or print umbrella with a hook hanger well I wanted something different and to make it my own so I went on Amazon to search for a umbrella that I liked and I found this beautiful lace parasol umbrella so I ordered it and I am so glad I did because it is just beautiful!
Materials I Used
- Ivory Lace Parasol Umbrella (Amazon)
- 4 Taller Greenery Stems
- 2 Bunches of Real Touch Tulips for a total of 24 tulips
- Ribbon
- Drill
- Scissors
- Wire Cutters
- Rubber Band
Step 1
When I ordered my umbrella from amazon I did not pay attention to the umbrella not having a hook handle but it turned out fine because it is a wood handle so I was able to drill a hole in the handle for hanging. If you are using this umbrella or an umbrella like it that has a wooden handle use a drill and drill bit to drill a hole through the umbrella handle. Sorry I forgot to take a photo of this step but after drilling the hole it will look like the photo below. If your umbrella has a hook handle you will not have to do this step.
Step 2
The next step is to lay down your taller greens then lay your flowers on top of the greens, (see photo’s below). If your greens have really long stems you may need to trim the bottoms to be even with the stems of your flowers. Next rubber band your greenery stems and flowers stems together.
It is time to insert the bundle of flowers into the umbrella. I had to open the umbrella slightly then I inserted the flowers. Lay the umbrella down on a flat surface and make any necessary adjustments to the flower bundle.
Step 3
Once you have your flowers the way you like them in the umbrella take a piece of ribbon of your choice and tie the ribbon around the center of the umbrella making a bow. If you drilled a hole in your handle take a small piece of ribbon put one end through the hole then make a hanger tying the two ends together. If you have a hook handle you can just hang the umbrella by the hook or add a piece of ribbon to the hook to use as a hanger.
Your umbrella wreath is now ready for hanging. I use a wreath command hook on my door to hang my umbrella wreath. I hope you give this wreath a try you can make one in about 5 minutes. I think any family member or friend would just love this as a gift and Mother’s Day is just around the corner!
Where did you purchase the real touch tulips?
