I just love to shop my local thrift stores, I am always looking for items that I can envision repurposing into something I can use to decorate my home.If you are not a thrift store shopper you must go you will be amazed at all the treasures you can find and one item I will tell you to never just walk by is vintage silver, I just love using it throughout my home. Each week I am going to share an item I have found at a thrift store and show how I transformed or repurpose the item to decorate my home. Today I am sharing how I used vintage silver in my kitchen.
I have always picked up the vintage silver casserole dishes and sometimes they are missing the glass insert but don’t worry sooner or later you will come across a glass Pyrex dish that will fit. I have a few of these casserole dishes so I was trying to think of some way I can repurpose them, then one day I was cleaning my counters and we have the pepper and salt grinders and I don’t know about you but they always seem to leave the pepper all over the counter so I brought out one of the vintage silver casserole dishes and placed the salt and pepper grinders in the dish then I added the things we use when we are cooking such as the different oils we use, I just love it I keep it by the stove and everything is at easy reach and no more pepper on my counter.
Another great place to use the vintage silver casserole dish is by your kitchen sink, it is great to hold your dish liquid, hand soap, bottle brush and I have a vintage cleanser Kate which holds my cleanser that I also keep in the dish. I know when you look at the picture below you will probably say that I should have my dish soap in a pretty glass bottle but my husband likes to be able to squeeze the dish liquid out of the bottle
After adding the casserole dishes I really didn’t like the look of the metal bucket I had my utensils in, I knew I had vintage silver coffee pots so out went the metal bucket and out came two vintage silver coffee pots to hold the utensils and I also added a vintage doily under them, I just love the look so much better then the metal bucket.
When I am in the thrift store one thing I am always looking for are vintage silver platters and bowls there are so many things you can do with them, I decided to make a three tier display with three of the vintage silver platters I have by gluing crystal candle sticks between the platters it makes such a pretty stand to display items on. I use my display on my kitchen island.
I love how you use your silver pieces in your kitchen! I love the look! I’m really trying, but silver at the Goodwills near me is outrageous. $9.95 for plain platter. I’ll keep looking though!
Love your lives, you’re doing a great job!! 👍🏻
I love all your ideas and diy’s, you are so amazing❤️
I have a black two tier tray that is rustic looking. Had it for a while and wanting to really use but I live in an apartment and limited on counter top. Would you use on your kitchen table? Watch you lots just don’t comment always. Thanks.
I am not sure what we did without you and Barb in our lives. You both have wonderful ideas.
Aside from the beautiful crafts you both show us , I have gotten some great decorating ideas.
There was the beautiful candle holder you made, the silver use ideas from you both, ( and I love Lisa’s silver collection )
Your many containers for arrangements.
Barb has such wonderful tips and I love her ice cream bucket. I have an old one that no longer has the attachments so will get that out of my shed soon.
Just want to say thank you so very much for all that you do for the followers.
God bless you.
You have a beautiful style of crafting and decorating. It’s always a highlight in my day when I can catch you live.
I did find me a silver casserole dish this morning at Goodwill for 4.99. Missing the insert but I will look for one. Love all of your ideas. Thanks so much.
You and Barb have turned me into a silver junky😂 I never find silver at goodwill but have found several pieces at antique stores. So glad I found you both! Thanks for all your creative ideas 😊
